Routine Appointments
At EgoDent, your long-term oral health is our priority. We focus on preventative treatment in looking after your teeth and gums in order to avoid complex and costly treatment at a later stage. Dental health also has proven links to your overall health, making it even more important to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Poor oral health has been linked to serious conditions such as heart disease, strokes and Alzheimer’s Disease.
What Happens at A Regular Check-Up
We recommend visiting our surgery for a general check-up at least once or twice a year. We can check to see that your mouth is healthy and deal with any issues quickly as and when they arise. During these examinations, our expert dentists will perform a quick assessment of your mouth and teeth. This will involve counting your teeth and checking your fillings and gums.
During this assessment, your dentist will also be able to check on the following:
● Any evidence of tooth decay
● How your teeth bite together
● Any signs of gum disease
● Wear and tear on your teeth
● Staining and discolouration
● Any overcrowding
● Signs of oral cancer
● X-rays to determine the position of your teeth and detect decay or possible tumours
During your routine appointment, your dentist will be able to discuss any problems and issues with you and will give you any advice relating to issues such as staining, brushing, cleaning and diet. If necessary, your dentist may direct you to other services within our practice, and this may include:
● Hygiene services – we may direct you to our hygienist for a more thorough brush and clean or any slight issues with your gums
● Periodontal – if you are showing more signs of gum disease
● Dental implants – if you are missing teeth and want to bring back confidence to your smile
● Orthodontics – if your teeth are crowded, protruding or crooked and you’re interested in getting them straightened
● Restorative care – if you require restorative treatment such as fillings, root canal or the fitting of crowns and bridges
