Poor oral health has been linked to serious conditions such as heart disease, strokes and Alzheimer’s Disease.

What Happens at a Regular Check-Up

We recommend visiting our surgery for a general check-up at least once or twice a year. We can check to see that your mouth is healthy and deal with any issues quickly as and when they arise.
During these examinations, our expert dentists will perform a quick assessment of your mouth and teeth. This will involve counting your teeth and checking your fillings and gums.

During this assessment, your dentist will also be able to check on the following:

● Any evidence of tooth decay
● How your teeth bite together
● Any signs of gum disease
● Wear and tear on your teeth
● Staining and discoloration
● Any overcrowding
● Signs of oral cancer
● X-rays to determine the position of your teeth and detect decay or possible tumours
During your routine appointment, your dentist will be able to discuss any problems and issues with you and will give you any advice relating to issues such as staining, brushing, cleaning and diet. If necessary, your dentist may direct you to other services within our practice, and this may include:
● Hygiene services – we may direct you to our hygienist for a more thorough brush and clean or any slight issues with your gums
● Periodontal – if you are showing more signs of gum disease
● Dental implants – if you are missing teeth and want to bring back confidence to your smile
● Orthodontics – if your teeth are crowded, protruding or crooked and you’re interested in getting them straightened
● Restorative care – if you require restorative treatment such as fillings, root canal or the fitting of crowns and bridges

Crooked, crowded or protruding teeth can severely affect your confidence. You don’t have to put up with a smile that you’re not proud of; at EgoDent, we offer the latest in orthodontic treatment to correct your smile.

Orthodontics is a specialist field in dentistry that focuses on correcting the alignment of your teeth. It also can correct bite and jaw issues. Orthodontic treatment usually involves wearing dental braces. This no longer means spending years wearing uncomfortable metal braces, dental braces have been revolutionised in recent years.
At EgoDent we offer Invisalign which are clear plastic braces that are practically invisible.

Orthodontic treatment can:
● Straighten crooked and crowded teeth
● Give you a better bite
● Close any unwanted gaps in your teeth
● Boost your self-esteem
● Help to prevent tooth decay and gum disease by allowing you to clean your teeth properly

At EgoDent our expert staff can advise you on the best course of treatment and guide you through the process to achieve your dream smile.

Technology and the rapid advancement of dental braces mean that we can offer you the very latest treatment.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign braces are made from thin, clear, flexible plastic. They sit over the top of your teeth and are practically invisible so that most people won’t even know that you’re wearing braces. Once you decide to go ahead with treatment, your teeth will be scanned to give a 3D image of how your teeth look now and how they will change week by week with Invisalign treatment. Your braces will then be custom-made for you, and this will take the form of a series of aligners which you change; usually 1-2 weeks. Your teeth will move little by little until they reach their correct position.
Benefits of Invisalign Braces

● Invisalign is very discreet. The clear plastic material means that they are practically invisible, and most people won’t know that you’re having your teeth straightened
● These braces are removable, so you can take them out to eat, drink and brush your teeth as well as for special occasions such as a wedding or a big event
● Treatment time is short; most patients find that their teeth are straightened within a matter of months
● Invisalign is suitable for most adults and can treat a range of orthodontic issues

Fillings

If your tooth has been damaged through decay or trauma, a dental filling will restore your tooth to its normal shape and function. It will also protect the health of your tooth as well as protecting the health of the adjacent teeth. Fillings can be white, gold or silver. White fillings have become more popular; we match the filling to the colour of your existing teeth so that it blends in naturally.

Bridges

Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge usually consists of a fake tooth which is located between two crowns or existing teeth surrounding the gap. They are natural-looking and strong enough to perform like your natural teeth. They enhance your smile and improve the way in which you bite together. A dental bridge also reduces pressure from the surrounding natural teeth.

Dental Implants

You can lose teeth for a variety of reasons including tooth decay, injury or illness. Whatever the reason, missing teeth can be embarrassing and seriously affect your self-esteem. You may lack confidence and not want to smile.

Fortunately, there is a solution. Dental implants are the most natural and permanent solution to replace missing teeth.

Dental implants consist of 3 parts:

Firstly, the titanium rod which acts as an artificial root for your new tooth, is gently placed into your jawbone and fuses together with your natural bone to support the artificial teeth.

The second part is the abutment or post which connects to the rod and sits in the gum.

The final part is the crown which is the replacement tooth, and this is what can be seen in your mouth and when you smile. The crowns are customised so that they blend in naturally with the rest of your teeth.

Dental implants are popular because unlike dentures, they do not come loose or become uncomfortable to wear over time. At EgoDent, we offer single tooth implants to replace a single missing tooth or to replace several missing teeth in odd places. We also offer all-on-4 dental implants which is where 4 dental implants are used to replace and support multiple missing teeth or even to replace a full mouth of new teeth. All-on-4 implants are beneficial to those patients that have very few teeth or no teeth at all as they are cost effective and treatment can often be finished in one day giving you same-day teeth.
There are many benefits for getting dental implants fitted:
● Dental implants are the most permanent way to replace missing teeth, unlike dentures, there’s no need to remove teeth, with dental implants you can live your life as usual.
● Dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth
● You can smile with confidence with dental implants
● Dental implants are extremely durable and with suitable care, they can often last a lifetime
● Dental implants help to overcome any discomfort or pain that missing teeth may have given you

Crowns

A dental crown is used to repair a cracked, fractured or badly decayed tooth. Dental crowns are strong and have a natural-looking appearance. You may need two appointments to fit your crown as it has to be custom made for your teeth. In the first appointment, your tooth is cleaned and prepared and an impression taken so that your crown can be built. You may be fitted with a temporary crown at this stage until your permanent crown has been made for you. At your next appointment, your permanent crown will be fitted.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Your teeth and smile are one of the first things that people notice about you. If you’re not happy with yours; then it can greatly affect your confidence, your happiness, and how you interact and socialise with others.

Fortunately, there are now many ways to improve the appearance of your teeth. Cosmetic dentistry refers to the different treatments available. So, whether you want to change the colour, shape or size of your teeth, or perhaps you want to fix a chipped tooth or straighten your crooked teeth, we have a cosmetic dental treatment that can help.

Here are just a few of the more popular cosmetic dental treatments that are available at EgoDent. We recommend that you book a consultation with one of our expert dentists to see which treatments or combination of treatments are suitable for you.
Veneers
Veneers are thin strips of porcelain which are carefully stuck to the front of your tooth. They are a great way to disguise different problems such as chipped, rough or uneven teeth. They can also be used to cover up gaps between the teeth and help lengthen small teeth. Dental veneers are a quick and painless way to mask cosmetic dental problems, giving your teeth a brand-new look in a short space of time.

Dental Bonding
A tooth-coloured resin is applied to your teeth to help improve its appearance. Dental bonding is often used to make your teeth have a more uniform look as well as closing unwanted gaps and making short teeth appear longer. Dental bonding is an inexpensive, painless form of treatment and is suitable for patients of all ages. It also has the advantage that it is completely reversible so treatment can be changed at a later date should you wish.
Teeth Whitening

Bright, white teeth convey health and happiness to others, so it’s no wonder that this option is becoming increasingly popular with many of our patients. We offer professional, safe teeth whitening at the surgery which is quick and painless. You’ll have a stunning new smile and see results instantly.
